Interactive cyber mentoring program
on substance abuse and suicide prevention

We feel that a program like Fearless Youth has the capacity to reach a large youth audience. It offers and ongoing process both online and in the school systems that will motivate teens and adolescents to meet their self managed personal and social needs. It is our goal to assist them in developing their uniqueness.

Fearless Youth will aid in building the personal skills and competencies to allow our youth to lead healthy and productive lives, offering them alternative solutions through the arts to reach their full potential, and have alternative outlets for the day to day challenges. The Program is characterized by a positive, skills building approach.

The goal is more than substance abuse and suicide prevention. The Program’s goal is to foster, in all young people, physical and mental health, competence at school, and in the community, confidence, character and connectedness with family and peers. The Max’s Kansas City Project wants to partner with organizations who share our good will. Synergistic relationships always bring about positive results. Let’s join in giving support to our future generations to carry on our mission of having a positive impact.

Statistics show that more and more teenagers are drinking excessive amounts of alcohol mixed with drugs, as well as doing drugs at an earlier age. Those of us involved with the Max’s Kansas City Project have learned first hand about the destruction that substance abuse leaves in its wake. We wanted to develop a program that would offer teens an innovative, non threatening way to open up and discuss all the challenges they are faced with on a daily basis in a safe, interesting environment. The place is a cyber café online called Max’s Kansas City, and the program is Fearless Youth, an interactive online cyber-mentoring program for teens (13-20) that will focus on making young people more aware of the dangers involved with the choices they may face regarding alcohol and drugs.

FEARLESS YOUTH will provide various resources as part of a support network aimed at preventing young people from getting hooked on alcohol and/or drugs. Our online cyber cafe/chat room will feature a Surprise Mentor  for each month of the year, notable individuals “in recovery” willing to share invaluable experiences about their own struggles with getting, and staying, straight.  Mentors will lead chats in our virtual club, Max’s Kansas City. The club with also feature a message board allowing members to connect and exchange ideas with each other - just as we all did in person at Max’s many years ago, plus a gallery to display creative works by club members.  One component of the program is to conduct workshops in high schools nationally, another is to commission ten (10) artists to design T-shirts based on the theme FEARLESS YOUTH with the intention of mass producing the t-shirt designs and selling them internationally.
